It’s been a while since I have photographed a wedding at Friar’s Court, Clanfield and it was lovely to return and see some familiar faces and have the opportunity to photograph a wedding in such a lovely setting. I had met up with Kate & Simon at Friar’s Court a couple of days before and we sat in the marquee chatting about the day with the rain battering down on the marquee roof – not a good start. Despite this, the sun came out on the day and Kate & Simon got to wave to their guests from an open top horse drawn carriage as they left the church for their reception.
I started with some bridal prep at The Lamb in Burford before meeting up with the horses in Bampton which were to take Kate and her father to Clanfield for the service. The reception back at Friar’s Court was set in their stunning gardens before guests sat down in the marquee to eat. The marquee looked stunning with flowers by Jo Wise and her team at Green & Gorgeous.
Kate & Simon were very keen for me to cover their wedding in a relaxed and informal way – documentary style if you will. This suits me perfectly and it was great to have such instruction from my clients especially as it means more time for them to mingle and chat with their guests. Despite this we did steal away for ten minutes to explore the grounds for a few portraits. There are so many great spots at Friar’s Court and, as a working farm, it changes every time you visit.
I left Kate & Simon and their guests dancing away to some great music from the band which was put together by Simon’s brother who also starred on the drums – a great way to start them off on married life.
If you are getting married at Friar’s Court and would like to discuss your wedding photography please get in touch – I would love to hear from you.
Below are a few of my favourites from their day. Please feel free to leave a comment.
